Coming Together in Silver Spring: How to Support, Uplift, and Strengthen Our Community

When Silver Spring faces a challenge, the community responds—with compassion, action, and a deep sense of responsibility to one another.

From neighbor-to-neighbor generosity to long-term investments in equity and growth, Silver Spring is a place that knows how to care for its own. On July 25, an unmarked and abandoned utility line was struck during Purple Line construction, triggering a massive water main break that flooded two floors of the Wayne Manchester Towers Apartments in the Long Branch neighborhood.

In response, Montgomery Housing Partnership (MHP)—in partnership with Montgomery County and the Purple Line team—is raising funds to directly support those impacted. Every dollar donated will go toward helping families recover, secure safe housing, and begin to rebuild.

Silver Spring was recently ranked the third most generous city in the nation, and this moment calls on that generosity once again.
