Silver Spring is undergoing a post-pandemic remarkable transformation back to a full family-friendly haven, welcoming residents and visitors to explore its array of attractions and activities. On any given weekend, the streets come alive with the sights and sounds of young musicians toting their instruments to Levine Music or School of Rock, while aspiring ballerinas twirl their way through the streets on their way to the Maryland Youth Ballet and Akhmedova Ballet Academy. Families have long gathered at the Silver Spring Civic Building and Veterans Plaza to shop at the Farmer's market, go ice skating, attend a community festival, and/or host a once a once in a lifetime celebration in the building. Now, families have another exciting destination to look forward to: the Silver Spring Recreation & Aquatics Center, opening its doors on Saturday, Feb. 24 at 10 a.m. Located at 1319 Apple Ave., this modern facility boasts three pools— a competition pool, a lap pool, and a recreational pool—alongside a community center, fitness center, and gym, offering endless opportunities for families to bond and thrive together.

As Silver Spring continues to thrive as a family-centric community, we're excited to showcase its diverse offerings. From cultural festivals to a wide array of family-oriented classes and educational opportunities, to theater and the arts, and now with our new Aquatics and Recreation center, Silver Spring promises unforgettable experiences for families of all ages. Join us as we celebrate Silver Spring's evolution into a premier destination for families, where every weekend is filled with exploration, learning, and cherished moments.
