Iconic Jazz Legends: Preservation Hall Jazz Band to Headline Silver Spring Jazz Fest

Get ready for a night of true jazz greatness: the Preservation Hall Jazz Band is coming to downtown Silver Spring! For more than 60 years, this legendary group has been the living embodiment of New Orleans jazz—bold, brassy, and impossible to sit still to. They’ve preserved and propelled the genre from its roots, performing alongside pioneers like Sweet Emma Barrett and George Lewis, and sharing that legacy with audiences around the world.

A recipient of the National Medal of Arts, the band continues to inspire new generations with its vibrant sound—and now they’re bringing it to Veterans Plaza on Saturday, Sept. 6 as headliners of the Silver Spring Jazz Festival. It’s a free celebration of rhythm, soul, and pure joy.

The festival kicks off at 3PM with a full day of live music from local and national jazz artists, food vendors, a beer garden, and family-friendly fun—all leading up to Preservation Hall Jazz Band’s set at 8:30PM. The plaza is surrounded by some of the best restaurants in the region, so come hungry and make a day of it.

Whether you’re a lifelong jazz devotee or just here for the good times and horn solos, this is one of those shows you don’t want to miss. Bring your friends, your picnic blanket or low-back lawn chair, and let downtown Silver Spring transport you straight to the French Quarter—no flight required.
