The 3rd District Police have introduced a range of strategies to reduce crime in Silver Spring, including targeted patrols, increased neighborhood outreach, and cutting-edge tools like the Drone as First Responder Program, the Real Time Intelligence Center, and a Police-Private Security Camera Incentive Program. These proactive measures are designed to prevent incidents and keep the community informed and protected.
Earlier this month, officials announced the expansion of the drone program to Bethesda—a move that underscores downtown Silver Spring’s leadership in safety innovation and smart policing.

From reporting suspicious activity to staying involved in neighborhood events, residents play an essential role in keeping downtown safe and welcoming.
