Silver Spring’s vibrant arts community continues to shine on the national stage. Akhmedova Ballet Academy recently earned major recognition at the prestigious Universal Ballet Competition, bringing home multiple awards and honors while representing the Silver Spring Arts & Entertainment District.

The academy received Outstanding School and Best Choreographer honors, in addition to earning 1st and 2nd place awards across all nine ensemble performances and ten solo awards. Several dancers also advanced as Grand Prix Finalists, competing alongside talented young performers from across the country and around the world. The achievements highlight the exceptional level of training, artistry, and dedication being cultivated within Silver Spring’s local arts community.

Known as one of the nation’s premier student ballet competitions, the Universal Ballet Competition provides a platform for emerging dancers to perform at a high level while gaining national exposure and professional experience. Akhmedova Ballet Academy’s success reflects not only the hard work of its dancers and instructors, but also the strength of Silver Spring’s growing reputation as a hub for arts education, performance, and cultural excellence.
