The arts organizations in Montgomery County’s Silver Spring Arts and Entertainment District are offering enriching arts programming for children this summer, with spaces still available for last-minute planners. Parents seeking creative and expressive activities for their children, from pre-kindergarten to 16 years old, will find a plethora of options to choose from.

These camps provide a wide range of activities, including artistic projects, filmmaking, studio theatre, ballet, robotics, visual arts, and music, ensuring that every child's imagination is inspired.

“Keeping children active and engaged during the summer is crucial,” said County Executive Marc Elrich. “The Silver Spring Arts and Entertainment District programs enrich children’s lives by providing a fun learning environment while supporting our local arts community.” Various organizations with trained and trusted teaching artists offer licensed summer camps, creative programming, classes, and summer job training.

Notable programs include the Youth Arts Movement (YAM) by Arts on the Block, the visual arts camps by Create Arts Center, filmmaking workshops by Docs in Progress, theatre camps by Lumina Studio Theatre, ballet classes by Maryland Youth Ballet, diverse arts programs by Montgomery College, theater camps by Round House Theatre Education Center, and music camps by the School of Rock. Additionally, the district offers spur-of-the-moment fun, including parks, playgrounds, movie theaters, and weekend festivals and farmers markets.
