Public Art in Silver Spring's Arts & Entertainment District

The Silver Spring Arts & Entertainment District has outdoor sculptures, murals, kinetic pieces, light art, and more. Silver Spring is home to over 100 pieces of public art, arts & humanities organizations, popular arts venues, entertainment businesses, etc. which attract hundreds of thousands of visitors each year.  A self guided public art stroll around the A&E District is a great activity to enjoy the sites of Silver Spring.

ENTERTAINMENT
Outdoor Ice Skating Rink
The Silver Spring Ice Skating Rink at Veterans Plaza is a seasonal outdoor attraction in the heart of downtown Silver Spring that offers a classic winter experience for locals and visitors alike. Nestled amid the district’s shops, restaurants and nightlife venues, the rink brings the spirit of the holidays to life with open-air skating under festive lights. Visitors to the rink can expect a welcoming atmosphere for all skill levels. The facility rents out a wide range of skates so that families, friends or newcomers to the ice can confidently participate.
SCIENCE & ENTERTAINMENT
Montgomery College Planetarium
The newly renovated Catherine and Isiah Leggett Sciences building houses a full planetarium! Open to the public (check the schedule, it isn't every day), the planetarium offers a glimpse into the cosmos. The planetarium is an awe inspiring educational tool and a unique and entertaining activity for visitors.
PERFORMING ARTS
Montgomery College Cultural Arts Center
The Cultural Arts Center at Montgomery College Silver Spring/Takoma Park has a full season of musical, theater, and dance performances each year. With both a 500 seat proscenium theater and a smaller black box theater, the College offers a variety of performances from comedy to classical orchestras.
