The Lion and the Mouse hovering over a book, is the perfect sculpture to welcome you to the Silver Spring Library. The artist, Marcia Billig, received her MFA in sculpture from American University and has created eclectic sculpture displays all over the country. Billig also has created pieces for a number of local elementary schools. Her charming and friendly work makes art accessible to both young children and adults. In the case of “Lion and the Mouse” it makes you want to come on in and check out a book. The sculpture can be viewed outside the library entrance, at the grassy corner at the intersection of Fenton and Bonifant Street.
