The Potter Violin Company has purchased the historic landmark, the Blair Mansion, on 7711 Eastern Ave in Silver Spring. The new store will include 12,000 square feet of expanded showrooms, larger work space for luthiers and a large room for recitals, workshops and meetings, sheet music library, repair counter and a high-security vault system to store instruments that can cost thousands of dollars each.

Student rentals are a large part of the Potter Violins business with about 3,000 rentals a year as well as finding instruments for  professional musicians. Potter also has luthiers who repair violins, cellos and violas.
