This year marks the 17th anniversary of Montgomery County's proclamation of September as African Heritage Month — the first jurisdiction in the nation to do so.
Join the African Affairs Advisory Group on Tuesday, September 9th at 6 pm for the 17th annual African Heritage Month Proclamation Celebration at the Silver Spring Civic Center.
This year’s theme, “Revisiting African History, Shaping Our Collective Future,” invites us to reflect on the past while imagining a stronger, more unified tomorrow. We will have remarks from county leadership, performances and vendors for the community to enjoy.
Free and open to the public — all are welcome. We look forward to celebrating with you!
