What story have you always wanted to tell?

This hands-on class taking place over 5 Saturdays teaches new filmmakers to plan, shoot, and edit short documentaries. It covers visual storytelling through interviews, B-roll, and archival footage and photos. You'll create a short character profile of a person.

To prepare for this class:

• Choose a person for your documentary. It can be a relative, or a local community member. That person should be available for interviews and tied to an interesting location or activity.

• Have a short pitch ready about why this would be an interesting story.

Docs will supply cameras and equipment/software for postproduction. Plan to spend 4-6 extra hours on shooting B-roll outside of class. Extra editing time also can be reserved during Docs In Progress business hours.

*Includes 1 hour for lunch, bring your own lunch to store in the fridge.
