Learn the basics of the GIMP interface as you customize a rad cartoon cat! For ages 8 to 12.

Learn the basics of the GIMP interface as you customize a rad cartoon cat.  This program will be held in the 5th Floor Conference Room.

GIMP is an open-source graphics program—similar to Photoshop, but free!  GIMP allows you to create graphics or edit photos using a variety of customizable tools and features.  This class will introduce kids to the interface and encourage them to express themselves through digital art!  The projects our participants create will be featured in a class Art Display on the 5th floor.

This program is for children ages 8 to 12.  Given that there will be only one librarian to instruct 10 kids, caretaker supervision of and assistance for your child is strongly encouraged, although we won’t have enough computers for adults to participate.  Please arrive no later than 2:10 PM to ensure your spot.

This is a pilot program!  Two summer sessions are being held, one on July 25th and one on August 22nd.  At this time, you may take only one class to make sure there is space for everyone!  We hope to offer more sessions in the future depending on interest.  Walk-ins within the appropriate age range are welcome as long as there is space.
