Earn SSL hours and enjoy free snacks & an incredible variety of dynamic Wednesday Teen Time events from 4:00-6:00 PM in our large 3rd Floor Meeting Room at Brigadier General Charles E. McGee Library, presented by SMYAL (Supporting and Mentoring Youth Advocates and Leaders)! No registration needed to attend! Drop-ins are welcome! Help design future teen programs & help with cleanup after the event as SSL opportunities!
5/21 Writing Your Script for a Healthy Relationship: Ditch the fairytales and stereotypes - figure out love & relationship styles that work for you at this workshop for Mental Health Awareness Month! This is NOT someone talking at you. Just like a healthy relationship, we want you to get what you want and need from this workshop! You can submit anonymous questions about love & relationships.
6/11 Drag Karaoke: Sing out with your friends & peers and celebrate Pride, emceed by a local drag queen artist!
6/18 T&T: Real Tea & Real Talk: Celebrate the upcoming Juneteenth, sip tea, socialize & talk with your peers about what’s happening in the world, in ways you don’t get to in school!
7/16 LGBTQ 101 Workshop: Learn to be an ally, create safe spaces & celebrate diversity through engaging activities & discussions. Empower yourself & others!
8/13 Untold Histories in Comics: Delve into the rich history of the LGBTQ+ community at this workshop, examining pivotal moments, key figures, and the evolution of queer rights and representation. Explore the lesser-known narratives of marginalized communities through the dynamic medium of comic books and graphic novels!
