Docs In Progress proudly presents the award winning film, Love Chaos Kin, a documentary by Chithra Jeyaram, as part of our Silver Screen Series. Join us on Thursday, April 9 at 7 PM at Docs In Progress for a special screening, followed by a post-screening Q&A with the filmmaker Chithra Jeyaram.

FILM SYNOPSIS
An unexpected pregnancy compels an Indian immigrant mother to help her adopted twin daughters reconnect with their White birth mother and estranged Native American father, exposing raw class divides while transforming their understanding of identity and belonging.

ABOUT THE FILMMAKER
Chithra Jeyaram is a physical therapist-turned-filmmaker dedicated to exploring the resilience and love within biological and chosen families. Her recent documentary, LOVE CHAOS KIN, highlights a multicultural family in an open adoption, showcasing an inclusive and connected America. She also produced the acclaimed short AMMA’S PRIDE (2024), which champions trans rights and marriage equality. An adjunct faculty member at NYU, Chithra is an alumna of prestigious programs, including Visions du Réel’s Rough Cut Lab, the Chicken & Egg (Egg)celerator Lab, the BGDM Artist Fellowship, the Gotham Documentary Fellowship, and the Jerome Foundation. She is currently writing her first screenplay, THE LONGEST SUMMER
