Intro by Film Noir Foundation founder and TCM host Eddie Muller
A dead singer, a desperate fiancée and a detective who loves jazz comprise this charming B movie about a trumpet player who gets locked up after the lead singer of his band gets whacked. The mystery is engaging, but the musical performances by jazz luminaries Coleman Hawkins and Josh White really push it over the top.
