Special Features: Silent with live musical accompaniment by Ben Model
This realistic, bittersweet drama of the day-to-day existence of an ordinary American man is as relevant today as it was in 1928, just before the Great Depression. Director King Vidor's timeless silent film masterpiece follows John Sims (James Murray), an everyman white-collar worker, and his wife (Eleanor Boardman) as they try to make it in the big city, where they must cope with cramped living conditions, a boring job and the bitter regrets of a limited life. Vidor received an Academy Award® nomination for Best Director. DIR/SCR King Vidor; SCR John V. A. Weaver; PROD Irving Thalberg. U.S., 1928, b&w, 98 min. Silent with English intertitles. NOT RATED
