The undead return to downtown Silver Spring for the annual Silver Spring Zombie Walk! Join the fun with creative costumes, a zombie gathering at Quarry House Tavern, a costume contest and a dance party at Ellsworth Square. The night continues at AFI Silver Theatre with cult horror classics and Halloween favorites.
Silver Spring Zombie Walk 2026
The undead are taking over downtown Silver Spring! Get ready for a night of spooky fun as the annual Silver Spring Zombie Walk returns with costumes, music, dancing and classic horror films.
Since 2008, the Silver Spring Zombie Walk has brought together thousands of residents and visitors for one of downtown's most unique Halloween traditions. What began as a small neighborhood gathering has grown into a beloved community celebration of creativity, costumes and all things spooky.
Whether you're dressed as a zombie or just coming to enjoy the spectacle, everyone is welcome!
Event Schedule
Quarry House Tavern
- 7:00 PM: Zombie Gathering (Zombie Make-up Artists will be on site)
- 8:00 PM: Costume Contest
- 9:00 PM: Zombie Walk to Ellsworth Square
Ellsworth Square
- 9:00 PM: Zombie Dance Party with DJ
- 10:00 PM: Zombie Walk to AFI Silver Theatre
DJ & Entertainment
DJ Cyrus will be with us from 9:00–10:00 PM, playing Halloween-themed, family-friendly music. They'll also handle announcements and host both of our contests and officer McCloud will help with announcing winners.
Tenant Specials
• Bibibop: 20% off for customers wearing a costume. First-time users who download the Bibibop app and sign up during the event can also get a FREE bowl with a minimum $5 purchase.
• Dog Haus: Happy hour specials for all zombies.
Zombie Dance-Off
Contestants will be invited into the activation area to show off their best zombie moves think exaggerated zombie walks, funny character performances and creative dancing rather than serious dance skills. After the first round, the DJ will select finalists for a final round, and audience applause will crown the winners.
Prizes: Medals for Scariest Zombie, Funniest Zombie and Best Moves.
Pumpkin Pie Eating Contest
About 6–8 contestants will compete at a long, decorated table, each with an identical pumpkin pie. When the DJ starts the countdown, contestants will have a set amount of time to eat as much as they can, with the DJ introducing competitors, keeping the crowd cheering and giving time updates along the way.
Prizes:
• 1st Place: $50 Nike gift card, $50 Chidos, $50 H&M + a pumpkin trophy and the title of Zombie Pie-Eating Champion
• 2nd Place: $25 Whole Foods gift card
• 3rd Place: $15 Cold Stone gift card
