In 2019, Khadija Ibiola turned her passion for cooking into a business, sharing authentic West African flavors with her community. It all began in her home, where the demand for her meals outgrew the kitchen—leading her to tell her family, lovingly, to “get out!” By 2020, Khadija opened the first Platinum Amala brick-and-mortar restaurant. It was a true family effort, with her son, Basit Salami, stepping in to manage operations and her two daughters helping run the restaurant. Together, they brought Khadija’s vision to life, serving fresh, scratch-made dishes that celebrated the rich heritage of West African cuisine. For three years, Platinum Amala thrived in its first location. Along the way, the team introduced a food truck, expanding their reach by bringing their signature dishes to events throughout Baltimore City. From hospitals and Amazon Fulfillment Centers to Jessup Prison, Platinum Amala became a trusted name for delivering flavorful, homemade meals. They’ve catered everything from weddings and birthday parties to corporate events, even traveling to other states for special occasions. In 2023, Platinum Amala made a bold move to Lexington Market, where they continue to serve their loyal customers and welcome new ones. Every dish is a testament to their commitment to tradition, quality, and the joy of sharing meals that feel like home. This is more than a restaurant—it’s a family legacy, a celebration of culture, and a promise to bring people together through the universal language of great food.
