Untitled Sculptural Seating Lights by Bill Rock
Untitled Music by Steve Marker and Randy Scope
United Therapeutics, 1040 Spring Street
The illuminated sculptural seating elements inhabiting the campus of United Therapuetics headquarters in Silver Spring support the concept of community and shared space by their presence as available public seating in a public plaza. Each functional sculpture is composed of a ductile iron base, anacrylic cap and internal light. These lights are programmed in sequenzes and are displayed around the clock. Complimenting the seating in the plaza are three different audio systems playing originally composed music by musicians Steve Marker and Randy Scope. The play-out systems have been set up in a way that directs certain musical tracks to certain speakers in the area whereby a passerby will potentially never hear the same composition matter in the same spaces.
